A small selection of beautiful phrases on photography designed by great international artists, to make us understand the deeper meaning of our photos. Photography, photo-writing, means writing with light. Photography, cinema, give a kind of immortality, a pre-eminence to images and not to real life. - Herbert Marshall McLuhan- "When photographing, one does not try to present an argument or to prove a thesis. There is nothing to prove. Photography comes alone. It is not a means of propaganda, but a way of shouting what you hear. It can be compared to the difference between a propaganda and a novel. The novel must pass through all the nerve channels, for the imagination. It has much more force than a pamphlet to which you glance and then throw it away. And poetry is the essence of everything". - Henri Cartier Bresson - in an interview granted to - Sheila Turner-Seed - Degas loved photography at a time when artists disdained it or did not want to admit it. He had excellent photographs and I jealously kept a print he gave me. Near a large mirror we see Mallarmé against the wall, Renoir on the sofa; in the mirror, like ghosts, Degas himself with his room and Mrs. Mallarmé with his daughter. The price of this masterpiece: nine gas lamps and a terrifying quarter of an hour of complete immobility. - Paul Valery - The camera is a simple tool, even the most stupid can use it, the challenge is to create through it that combination of truth and beauty called art. It is a primarily spiritual research. I seek truth and beauty in the transparency of an autumn leaf, in the perfect shape of a snail on the beach, in the curve of a feminine back, in the consistency of an old tree trunk and also in other elusive forms of reality. – Isabel Allende – ---------------------------------------------------Hashtag:------------------------------------------------- #art #photo #photography  #color #bnw #portrait #bw  #nature #picture #landscape #architecture #design #composition #city  #abstract  #blackandwhitephotography #style #line #street #picture #pic #photos #captures #urban #geometric #perspective #arts #travel #focus #monotone #model #selfye #monocrome #flower #geometry #exposure  #monochromatic  #monochrome #blackandwhite #society #giovanni #ussi  #giovanniussi #giovanniussiphotos  @giovanniussi @giovanniussiphotos Giovanni Ussi (giovanniussi)
